You likely wonder if you have to take vitamin D3, I was one of them myself. In 2012, I went to a conference in Montreal and asked the doctor why I take calcium every day and my ionized calcium level is still low?

The doctor says: You probably don’t have enough Vitamin D3. Oh! Really! What you need to do is to have your vitamin D3 level tested in your blood. Actually, I did not know that we could be tested on vitamin D3.

Since my ionized calcium was low my family doctor decided to have my vitamin D level tested so we will know where to stand for. I went back to see her and told me that my level was lower that is why even though I was taking more calcium, my body could utilise it because the vitamin D was low.

She ( my family doctor ) made me take 1000 I.U./ day and come back in 3 months or so to be tested again. After 3 months my level was up to normal.

In the meantime, I went to the conference and told Dr.Brouse my story and encouraged me to take 5000 I.U. a day for a month and I could decrease it if I wanted after. Ever since I take 4000 I.U a day all year long.

As we all know in North America especially here in Canada, we don’t go outside too much in the winter so it is important to have enough Vitamin D3 in our blood stream to make sure it is used properly in our body with calcium and other minerals.

Even with a proper diet we still need a supplement in vitamin D3. Nowadays, people put on sunscreen so your vitamin D3 is not absorbed by the skin that is why it is crucial to add a supplement in vitamin D3.

According to Doctor Brouse Vitamin D has co-factors that the body needs in order to utilize vitamin D properly.
They are:    – magnesium  ( the most important )

                    – zinc

                    – vitamin K2

                    – boron

                    – a tiny amount of vitamin A

In one of the articles from Dr.Brouse on – Autistic Children – they may benefit from the adequate amount of vitamin D3. The study is very interesting to look at. Here is the whole article.

In addition,  vitamin D3 is good for bone health, improves immune system, heart, bowel, and brain function as well. You can do the research yourself and find out about your vitamin D3 level and talk to your doctor so you can make an informed decision for your health and your family.

Please, I would love to hear from you and you can share it and ask a question!

To your health!
